It's time for my monthly stats! Here's February at a glance:
1,533 words of poetry written
2,584 words of short stories written
3,493 words added to The PJ
7,610 total words written
24 poems written
2 short stories completed
My word count for this month is way down because I spent most of the month editing and completing two short stories for my application to the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Workshop, which is a six-week long workshop in San Diego. And they accept only 18 students per year. Eighteen. My shots of being accepted are pretty slim. And honestly, the only reason I had the guts to apply is because I know there is no way I'll ever be accepted. But maybe I'll be surprised.
I shared on Twitter that I passed the 10k mark on The PJ last week. Woot! It's coming along pretty well. My goal is to have a bare-bones skeleton draft done no later than the end of March (but hopefully by mid-March). By bare-bones skeleton, I mean practically devoid of any description and subplot. I'll go back through and add that afterwards to round out the first draft.
And how's your writing going?

Those are great stats! I'm going to be ninja-writing with you this month. I reopened an old WIP and let my CPs read it--they loved it, so I'm back to working on it. I'd left it at 33k, and since Feb 10 it's now up to 54k, but my ultimately goal is probably around 80-85k. So I've got some words to write!
ReplyDeleteYour word count still looks good to me! Congrats on a strong February!
ReplyDeleteI'm in revisions mode and it's going a little better this week than it has all of January and most of February, so I'm thankful for that. I actually like revisions once I get going, but it's a slow process for me.
awww, you did fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI have not been doing so well but I'm procrastinating. Boo, Hannah!
