Morning Pages

original image here.
Saturday, Write for Your Life posted about stream-of-consciousness writing, or the morning pages. Basically, you write three pages of whatever is on your mind each morning, allowing you to go into your day with a clear mind.

I'm always up for trying new things, and I immediately wanted to try this. My mind is so cluttered, I don't know how I can fit any more in there, and sometimes I find it difficult to find anything that is already there. So yesterday, I started my own two-week trial. For two weeks, I'm going to write my morning pages each day. I feel like it's way too soon to post anything about the experience today, but I will be posting an update here next Monday, and the Monday after that when the trial is complete.

Let's unclog this mind of mine.

  1. I write Morning Pages! I read about them in The Right to Write by Julia Cameron. She also talks about them more in depth in her book The Artist's Way. I've been doing Morning Pages since May. I hope you like it!

What a brilliant idea! I think I should give this a try, my mind is constantly filled with clutter, stress and lots of mindless nothing... hmmm can't wait to see what you think of it next Monday!

  4. I've never tried anything like this before. It would probably really help me unclutter my own mind but I have so little writing time, I'm scared to give any of it up to anything new. However, if I get stuck, I'm going to give it a whirl!

  5. Hey Jaydee, I definitely know what you mean about giving up what little writing time you have for this. That was something I thought about too, but I'm hoping that this helps unclutter my mind so that I can be more creative and productive when I am writing. Good luck with you're writing, and hopefully you don't get stuck!

  6. This is a really interesting idea. I definitely have clutter and somewhere to put it would be great. Perhaps I'll give it a try.

  8. I do this once in a while when the old writing block starts to rear its ugly head. It really does help! Because, so much of our writing problems are in direct relation to things that are happening in our day-to-day life: kids, work, family, money, fears . . . you name it. When you write these three pages you are releasing some of that anxiety. Also, you are setting your mind back into write mode.

By the way, thank you for coming to my blog! It's very nice to meet you : )
