I Am Number Four

I finished reading I Am Number Four over the weekend. This was a fantastic read, and it was really difficult to put down. I especially liked it because it's set in my home state, Ohio. O-H! Okay, okay, of course I have better reasons than that for liking it. It's fast-paced and intriguing from page one all the way to the end. No boring parts here.

It's unique. I really didn't read anything where I thought, "Gee, didn't something like that happen in X book?"

The main character, John (aka Four) is really likable and easy to relate to. Even though he's, ya know, an alien, he's also just a teen trying to find himself and a place where he belongs and can call home. He has to stand up against his enemies and, of course, snag the girl.

My favorite quote: "No. Don't give up hope just yet. It's the last thing to go. When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope."

Here's the Blurb:
Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books--but we are real.

Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived among you without you knowing.

But "they" know.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.

I am Number Four.

I am next.
Do you really need to know more than that to want to pick up this book immediately? Seriously, go get it. Now. Before "they" come for you.
